The Department of Psychology provides a free psychological support service to all students of the University of Bologna.
The Psychological Support Service (SAP) is one of the most consolidated clinical assistance initiatives of the Department of Psychology and has been operating since 1985. The SAP receives a contribution from the Student Financial Support Office of the University of Bologna and has an agreement with the local health authority of Bologna.
The service is free of charge for all students of the University of Bologna. The aim is to analyse the causes of psychological distress and to offer expert support. Staff members are operators from the Department of Psychology.
The objective of these interviews is to reveal and analyse the causes of the psychological distress manifested.
This service does not deal with cases of drug addiction or cases that require specific psychiatric assistance (use of psychotropic drugs with or without psychotherapy, possible need for hospitalisation). Similarly, the service also does not deal with cases that require an orthodox psychoanalytical treatment (long or very long treatment, many weekly sessions, tailored set up and programme, etc.).
